Background & Header Instructions

Having trouble installing backgrounds and headers?

First Step... (Backgrounds)

1. Copy this highlighted code below

<style type="text/css">body {background-image: url(); background-position: center; background-repeat: no-repeat; background-attachment: fixed; }</style> <div style="position:absolute; top:30px; left:0px; border:0px;"><a href= target="_blank"><img src="" border="0"></a></div>

 2. In the top Navigation bar you will see a tab called "Layout" click on that. It will then pull up your page elements.

3. In your sidebar, you will see at the top "Add Gadget". Click on that. It will pull up a list of things that you can add to your blog. You want to add a "HTML/Javascript" gadget.

4. When you have pulled that up, paste the code that you have copied above into the empty white box. Click SAVE. (Note: do not change any of the code or it will not work)

5. Now go back and copy the link that is below the background you like.

6. Return to the HTML/Javascript gadget that you added and paste the link in between the parenthesis that is highlighted above. Once you have done that, save it. Now, anytime you want to change your background, all you have to do is erase the code that is in ( ) and replace it with the new code.

Header Instructions

This is very simple, you will have it up in no time.

Step 1. Click on the Header that you would like to add to your blog. It will enlarge to its original size just like a picture would.

Step 2. Save the header to your computer in a folder that you will remember.

Step 3. Now go to "Layout". It will pull up your page elements, from there you will click "Header".

Important steps before uploading the header from your computer. Make sure the following are marked...

-Shrink to fit

-behind title and description

*if you click shrink to fit after the picture is uploaded it will not change a thing.

Now mark the "Upload from Computer" and click browse to find the Header. Once that has uploaded click Save. That's it!

(Note: If you didn't click shrink to fit before you uploaded the picture you have to remove it and upload it again for it to take affect.)

Standard size for the Header in html settings are 660px. Sometimes they need to be increased to 665px. to fit properly

  1. I followed all your instructions to the letter, and cannot for the life of me make the backgrounds work. I assume my template needs to be set to Minima on blogger? I'm bummed because you have the best backgrounds I've seen!

  2. The coding was broken but now it's fixed.

  3. it still isnt working...any suggestions?

  4. It should work I have tested it multiple times. Sometimes if you have a background by someone else and don't erase their coding first, it can conflict with the new background you want to add.

  5. For those who are having trouble applying to Blogger with the new layout options, choose 'Watermark' as the template design, no background image, and make everything transparent. It worked for me and now my blog looks great. Thanks, Mikelle!

  6. Easy to follow instructions. Worked perfectly for me. Love your backgrounds and headers. Thanks so much. Blessings, SusanD

  7. For some reason my BG had a white film over it, & the BG would not go all the way yo the top. So I started doing as Shepherdess said & making everything transparetn. I clicked & suddenely my page was right!!! Thanks Yall

  8. I tried what Shepherdess said but my blog is still not looking right...any help?

  9. Mine won't work either. I used to have a background from blogger and now I'm having a problem with it not showing all the way. If you can look at my blog please and help.

  10. I'd love to post Elegant or Born with Style as both are stunning! Is there a problem with the code? Would love to use them if at all possible! Thank you!

  11. I just finished my blog 20 minutes ago and first thing I grabbed your button.
I apreciate your sharing very much.
Only that my blog doesn't show the background all the way down either. Is there something I did wrong?
    Thank you!

  12. I can't get the header to work. It shows but is small and only takes up less then half the header area. And tips or tricks I should know?

  13. Hubby and I had problems too, here's how we fixed it:

*after "url" inside the parentheses, place single quotes around the actual url, like so:

    background-image: url('');

Keep the rest and it should work. Thanks for the great background!

  14. I'm using Blogger, I switched to the Watermark template and made everything transparent, everything EXCEPT the header is working well.... my header is off center to the left. Any suggestions? Oh, and I'm using the Summertime regular background and it stretches so much across my blog that I don't see any of the polka dots either....

  15. I have a person invited on my blog but somehow that person is adding others that I don't approve to my PRIVATE blog. I have no idea how this is happening. Has anyone else run into this problem and how do you stop it? My settings seem to be correct. Thanks!

  16. I downloaded a pretty header without problems, but for some reason I am unable to get the matching background onto my blogspot blog. I am using only a template from blogspot but haven't downloaded anything else. Can anyone help me? Thank you so much for such a beautiful site....and thank you for sharing.

  17. I downloaded a header for my sight, but I cannot get it centered and its to short on the right end.
Can you help me with this? I read the thing at the bottom about 665px, but I don't know how to change it. Help!

  18. @patti go on Template then Costumize then play a bit with the colours check them one by one and start to make them all worked for me

  19. Thank you! love all your designs. I was able to get the header done and the code for the background onto my blog, but how do I make the background meet the header all the way to the top? thanks so much. wonderful desgins!!!

  20. I can't figure out how to get the new blogger templates to work!
What am I doing wrong. These backgrounds here are the cutest anywhere. I started messing around with my blog to change some colors and fonts and now Blogger is saying I have to have the new templates. I can't get my thanksgiving background back! Gah!

Has anyone else had this? How do I fix it?

  21. I just wanted to let you know that after following all your directions the words "my style" showed up near the top of my blog title. I tried all which ways to remove that and it turned out to be part of the code up above. I had to remove the code to remove those words. I use blogger ethereal set up. I so wanted to have your Halloween dot, well I did for 24 hours lol, but had to take it down. Is there anyway to do a direct link on your pages to blogger?
Thank you so much, you are so kind to allow us to use your patterns.

  22. I am having trouble with the background. It looks wrong and I cannot seem to fix it. Help !
